7 Days to a Faster Metabolism
There are many ways to gain a faster metabolism, problem is, a lot of people don’t understand that there are baby steps that they can take to obtain one. It’s been said that it takes thirty days to create a new habit, and with the steps below you can begin one new habit each day of the week.
Day one- Eat breakfast! This seems very simple, but amazingly many people don’t feel like eating first thing in the morning. However, breakfast restores blood sugar levels after many hours of not eating. Also, it’s been said to increase your metabolism by 10%, and it optimizes your daily energy levels. It’s a good idea to eat a combination of fiber, protein and fruit.
Day two- Eat protein! Protein takes longer to digest, wards of hunger and balances blood sugar. Protein is not hard to come by. Lean meats, cheese, eggs, yogurt, fish and tofu are quick and easy to have as a snack or a quick meal.
Day three- Do Yoga! Yoga encourages blood flow, cleanses your organs and boosts your digestive system. Not to mention it is a fantastic stress reliever! Some people are intimidated by the idea of yoga, but there are some simple beginner moves you can learn very easily. A good one to start with is Tada Asana. While standing straight up, join your arms high in the air and align your arms, neck and legs. As you raise your arms up, inhale and hold your breath for a few seconds while slightly lifting your heels. As you slowly bring your hands down, release your breath. Repeat this a few times.
Day four- Build muscle! Strengthening your muscles is one of the best exercises you can do to speed up your metabolism. Your muscles require more calories to maintain, and the more muscle mass you have the more calories will be burned. This does not mean that you have to become an oiled, buff bodybuilder! Just applying some light weights during you’re daily walk will help.
Day five- Vitamins! You should definitely be taking vitamins to maintain your overall health. A lot of people take a multi-vitamin, but when your metabolism is sluggish you can experience extreme fatigue. Vitamin B especially can give you a big boost. Additionally, B vitamins will give you healthier skin, increase muscle tone (which we’ve already learned is important to increase metabolism), build your immune system and promote cell growth.
Day six- Not eating at night! Actually, studies are showing that evening eating does not cause you to gain weight, however people do tend to eat more at night (especially if they are distracted by a good program and not paying attention to how many calories they are consuming.) It is a fact, though, that once you fall asleep your metabolism slows down. This should be considered by those who wake in the night and eat.
Day seven- Push the water! This is so simple, yet so overlooked! Water is essential for flushing out our organ systems and replenishing our cells. Many people just don’t care for the plain taste of water, and choose to replace their beverages with soda or fruit drinks. These drinks are loaded with sugar and do their metabolism no favors. An easy way to learn to appreciate water is to add slices of fresh fruit such as lemon, lime or orange.

Great steps to healthy living! I’ve never been one to like Yoga too much (perhaps I am one of the scared ones), but I tried the pose you referred to and, you’re right, it is quite relaxing. Looking forward to continuing these steps over the long term.
Those are all excellent suggestions to increase metabolism. too many people think you can just do one or 2 of these and lose many pounds over the course of a day. That just won’t happen. You’ve got to be persistent and work at it!
